Jera is the Nature Jotun specializing in using the natural properties of Tree Roots and poisonous flowers to surround, poison and when the occasion calls for, smash her enemies using her tremendously powerful fists.
Main attacks
Ground Pound
Jera will hit the ground with her fists five times at 0, 45, 90, 135 and 180 degree angles simultaneously.
Poison Cloud
Jera turns her fists into roots and digs them into the ground. At that point she will cause Entrapment to appear similar to the ones you found after activating the blue glyph in Barrow Mound. After a few seconds she’ll grow a large grey flower from her back and make it explode spreading out poisonous pollen across the battlefield.
Entrapment
At fifty percent health Jera will turn her fists into roots, dig them into the ground and grow six Tree Roots at 0, 45, 70 , 85, 135 and 180 degree angles in an attempt to trap you with the Entrapment. The Tree Root will regenerate twenty seconds after being chopped through.
The Battle
Pre-50% Boss Health
In order to make Jera appear you must run up to the single grey flower with an eye and attack it. It will begin to shudder and Jera will appear from underground.
As the battle begins, Jera will yell and immediately Ground Pound. As long as you stay between 45 and 90 degrees you will be able to land continuous attacks until her Ground Pound is over. After Jera Ground Pounds at the 90 degree angle use three heavy attacks to stun her. You’ll know she’s stunned when her belly splits open and you see the grey flower.
When Jera uses Poison Cloud make sure to stay close to her and only chop down Entrapment that are close enough to hit you. Once you see the grey flower appear on her back immediately run to the closest blue flower at the outside edge of the battlefield to prevent being poisoned.
Post-50% Boss Health
As soon as Jera reaches 50% health she will scream and use Entrapment. As soon as this happens chop through either the 70 or 85 degree Tree Root, whichever is closest, in order to give yourself a clear path to a blue flower.
From this point she will continue the same attack pattern as she did during pre-50% boss health with the addition of the Tree Roots now being present on the battlefield.
Note: Be mindful of the Tree Roots blocking your path to the closest blue flower as once chopped they will regenerate after twenty seconds.
Fe is the Cave Jotun specializing in using her immense strength to drop boulders down from above, Summon Dwarves to assist her in battle and attacking you personally with her immense shield.
Main Attacks
Summon Dwarves
Anytime Fe slams either her hand or shield onto the ground she will Summon Dwarves.
Shield Slam
Fe lifts her shield above her head and slam it down vertically into the ground after three seconds. This also has a pushback effect which affects both you and the Dwarves.
Shield Toss
Fe turns her torso to the side and tosses her shield towards you three seconds later. The shield will follow a straight line towards the edge of the battlefield before teleporting back onto Fe’s left arm. Shield Toss will also damage anything it comes into contact with, including Dwarves.
Roar
Fe will lean back and Roar. As she does this any Dwarves present will immediately rush to attack you.
The Battle
Pre-50% Boss Health
As you near Fe she will stand up from her throne, pick up her shield and uses Summon Dwarves.
Fe always starts with Shield Slam so just like the first boss in Barrow Mound, dodge between her legs to get behind her as she raises her shield. From there use heavy attacks until she or her Dwarves begin to attack you.
As Fe moves around continue to use light attacks on her legs and nearby Dwarves. Continue this until you see her begin another attack; Shield Slam, Shield Toss or Roar.
When Fe uses Roar, run close to her and use light attacks on the incoming Dwarves because you want to get rid of as many as possible before Fe launches her next attack.
When Fe uses Shield Toss either dodge between her legs to get behind her if you’re able or run around her right side to get behind her. In either case use heavy attacks until you’re not able to land anymore.
Post-50% Boss Health
At this point Fe will stop near the center of the hexagon design in the middle of the battlefield and slam her hand onto the ground to raise six pillars around the edges of the battlefield. You can tell where they’re going to rise from the lines connected to the hexagon design. In addition to the pillars she will also Summon Dwarves with the new inclusion of Large Dwarves.
To prevent yourself from being overwhelmed, hit any hammer that a Large Dwarf throws at you to cause you to ricochet it back in the direction of your attack in a line. This means any enemy in the path of the attack will get hit, quickly reducing the number of Dwarves.
The pillars at the edges are destructible either by you attacking it four times or having Fe use her Shield Toss to immediately destroy it. As soon as a pillar is destroyed spiked rocks will fall from above damaging anything, including you, hit by it.
Note on Pillars: As you light up the pillar with each hit, it will reduce the number of lights every five seconds until no lights are active.
From 50% and below you can be easily overwhelmed because of all the Large Dwarves that will be appearing. In order to counter this make sure to hit back any hammer they are throwing at you back towards them or a large ground, try to have Fe use her Shield Toss so it hits a large group of Dwarves, destroy pillars to have spiked rocks fall to quickly clear the field. In addition, make sure to use Loki’s Decoy if you can’t get away from attacks and Heimdall’s Shield if your going to take an attack which you can’t dodge.
Isa the Ice Jotun is large, powerful and able to manipulate the ice around the battlefield but Isa has one huge weakness, he is very slow.
Main attacks
Double Hammer Fist
Isa raises his fist high into the air for two seconds, then slams them down near his feet.
Face First
Is will standing blankly ahead with his arms by his side for two seconds, then fall Face First into the ice in front of him.
Charge
Isa will turn towards you, hunched over, wait two seconds then Charge in the direction he’s looking until he reaches the edge of the battlefield.
Ice Breath
Isa will pull his arms back while puffing out his chest for two seconds, then he’ll breathe out a far reaching Ice Breath attack in a 180 degree arc from his right to left. This attack typically occurs after he does Charge. Also note that after the attack ice spikes will appear around the battlefield.
The Battle
Pre-50% Boss Health
To make Isa appear you must run up to the spiked ice ring around his head and attack it to make it slide into Isa. This will cause him to rise up and fight.
Isa will only attack you if you are close enough for him to hit.
When Isa is preparing to do Double Hammer Fist, dodge in between his legs to get behind him and continue to do heavy attacks until he stands back up.
When Isa is preparing to do Face First, dodge between his legs to get behind him and be ready to dodge again as he hits the ground to avoid being pushed back.
When Isa is preparing to do Charge, either dodge between his legs to get behind him or run off to the side, whichever you can do quickly. Afterwards run to his right side to avoid the Ice Breath attack.
When Isa is preparing to do Ice Breath make sure you get to either his right or left side as quickly as possible. As he is doing Ice Breath continue to hit him with heavy attacks until his attack is finished.
As the battle goes on you will see ice spikes appear on the battlefield. Use a heavy attack on those while aiming at Isa to slide them towards him and cause damage roughly the same as a light attack.
Post-50% Boss Health
Once Isa reaches 50% health he will Roar and the vast majority of snow will disappear revealing black ice which causes you to slide around the battlefield. Learn how far you slide and figuring out the timing becomes important at this point as getting hit is very likely to happen at this point.
The attack pattern is the same as Pre-50% Boss Health so continue following those strategies. Include using Thor’s Hammer anytime your able to land two to three heavy attacks, usually during Ice Breath and Face First you’ll be able to manage that. Use Heimdall’s Shield if you about to be hit by Ice Breath or if your health is low enough to be killed in one hit.
The battle will be over once Isa loses all his health and becomes frozen. You must shatter Isa at this point to end the battle as he will not shatter by himself.
Hagalaz is the Lightning Jotun able to use its ability to manipulate lightning to zap you from one edge of the map to the other while also able to teleport around the battlefield at will.
Main attacks
Lightning Strike
When Hagalaz looks psychotically towards the sky she will cause five Lightning Strikes to come down anywhere on the battlefield simultaneously as indicated by the pillar of light.
Ball of Lightning
When Hagalaz creates a ball of light in her hands she will cause a lightning bolt to fly straight ahead of where she is looking and it can reach from one edge of the battlefield to the other. There is a small space directly in front of her which is safe and that is a short distance ahead of where she is looking.
The Battle
Pre-50% Boss Health
The battlefield is littered with four Lightning Rods at the edged quadrants around the battlefield. Those Lightning Rods will activate and periodically send out sparks in all directions if lightning touches them.
If Hagalaz uses her Lightning Strike all you need to do is continue running in whichever direction you are facing and you’ll safely avoid being hit. You can if you’re quick enough run towards Hagalaz and use your light attack to get hits in as you dodge any Lightning Strikes.
If Hagalaz uses her Ball of Lightning while your far from her run off to her side while trying to get near to her feet. As soon as you reach her feet use you heavy attack.
If Hagalaz uses her Ball of Lightning while you’re close to her feet run towards her and use your heavy attack as soon as possible to try and land two to three hits.
A strategy for fighting her is to make her hit all four Lightning Rods with her lightning. As soon as the eighth Lightning Rod is activated, a giant lightning bolt will come down above her and electrocute her, causing her to collapse and become stunned.
Post-50% Boss Health
As soon as Hagalaz reaches 50% health she drops down on her knees, become electrified and split into two. They will act independently of one another so treat them as such.
The strategy for fighting her is a little different compared to other Jotuns as you can’t rely on the previous method because there are now two to deal with. In this case you can still dodge the attacks the same way but you must be aware of what the other Hagalaz is doing and prepare to move accordingly.
A good strategy for dealing with Hagalaz is one of two choices
Activate the four Lightning Rods which will cause a giant lightning bolt to come down and strike both Hagalazs’. As soon as they are activated use Freyja’s Speed and run towards one of them. As you get close use Thor’s Hammer and start using heavy attacks as much as possible until you need to run away.
Align one of the Hagalazs’ so that the other one will use it’s Ball of Lightning to hit it. This will have the same effect as the giant lightning bolt allowing you to quickly run to the stunned Hagalaz using Freyja’s Speed, then Thor’s Hammer with Heimdall’s Shield to heavy attack her until she begins to attack. This one is more risky because if Lightning Strike is coming down while Heimdall’s Shield isn’t active your overall damage dealt will be lower when compared to using the Lightning Rod strategy.
Kaunan is the Fire Giant capable of using fire in order to launch powerful area of effect attacks across the battlefield.
Main attacks
High Jump 1
Kaunan will squat down and immediately jump high into the air for three seconds then coming crashing down. On landing Kaunan will stay squatting for five seconds and then fireballs will come raining down across the battlefield creating hot zones which will damage you if you step on it.
High Jump 2
Identical to High Jump 1 except when jumping Kaunan will leave an arc of flame from his launch position. Once landing he will cause flames to erupt around him and nine cracks will encircle him reaching near to the edges of the battlefield. The cracks will then burst into flames at the same time while fireballs rain down from above.
Forward Slash 1
Kaunan will raise his sword above his head and will immediately slash in the direction he’s looking.
Forward Slash 2
Identical to Forward Slash 2 except once the sword hits the ground the ground will crack at 0, 90 and 180 degrees and burst into flames immediately afterwards.
Scorched Earth 1
Kaunan will jump back towards the upper left edge of the battlefield and plant his sword into the earth. He’ll then swing it in an arc from right to left causing nine cracks to appear in front of him identical to those you saw in Ymir’s Blood. They reach across half the battlefield and immediately burst into flames from left crack to right crack simultaneously.
Scorched Earth 2
Identical to Scorched Earth 1 except there are now 10 cracks each with splitting in half down the middle creating branching cracks for a total of 30 cracks which will burst into flames.
Roar
Kaunan will Roar causing his sword to become red hot and fireballs will rain down from above around the battlefield.
The Battle
Pre-50% Boss Health
As you run up to Kaunan working on his sword at the anvil he will avoid attacking you for a second and then dip his sword into the water beside him causing steam to rise around him. At this point he will do Forward Slash 1 so make sure you’re not near enough to be hit.
If Kaunan uses Forward Slash 1 run off to either his left or right side not worrying about keeping a wide distance because his sword has a narrow hitbox. From there run next to him and use a heavy attack before he gets up. He tends to use High Jump 1 at this point after this attack.
If Kaunan uses High Jump 1 stay away from his shadow because that’s where he’ll land. As soon as he appears use two heavy attacks on him before the fireballs rain down from above. If you attack Kaunan from his left side near his head you can cause him to fall over after the heavy attacks which will allow you to hit his weak point for extra damage, his helmet.
If Kaunan uses Scorched Earth 1 run towards his right side if he’s close by otherwise run straight towards him avoid being on the cracks as they burst into flames. As soon as you’re near use a heavy attack on him.
Post-50% Boss Health
Once Kaunan reaches 50% health he will immediately Roar causing fireballs to rain all across the battlefield creating many hot zones. The hot zones typically land away from the middle of the battlefield so consider the middle a safe zone.
If Kaunan uses Scorched Earth 2 don’t bother running towards him if you’re not close because he’ll likely use High Jump 2 and go straight to the middle of the battlefield before you can reach him.
If Kaunan uses High Jump 2, stay away from the middle he lands and the ring of fire disappears. From there run close to him, avoiding the cracks, using Freyja’s Speed and Thor’s Hammer to do as much damage as possible before he gets up. If you notice that fireballs are going to land on you use Heimdall’s Shield to continue attacking without worrying about taking damage. It’s likely he’ll use High Jump 2 again and possibly a third time so make sure you’re ready to quickly dodge and ready to begin using heavy attacks. Also remember that you can attack Kaunan from his left side near his head to cause him to fall over after the heavy attacks which will allow you to hit his weak point for extra damage, his helmet.
If Kaunan uses Forward Slash 2 follow the same strategy as Forward Slash 1 except making sure that you’re avoiding standing on the cracks that appear at the 0, 90 and 180 degree angles.
As soon as he gets down to about 30% health use Gungnir twice to immediately defeat Kaunan.
Odin is the All-Father of the Norse Gods armed with his spear Gungnir as well as being able to Summon Jera, Fe, Isa, Hagalaz and Kaunan onto the battlefield.
Main attacks
Gungnir 1
Odin dashes backwards up to two times, then throws his spear Gungnir. It will continue hunting you until they hit you or disappear. It gives off a humming sound the closer it is to you.
Gungnir 2
Odin dashes backwards up to two times, then throws his spear Gungnir at you but this time it splits into three at 45, 90 and 135 angles. All will continue hunting you, appearing one at a time until they hit you or disappear. It gives off a humming sound the closer it is to you.
Summon Jera
Odin will Summon Jera at one of the six circles in which she will use her Poison Cloud attack before disappearing.
Summon Fe
Odin will Summon Fe at one of the six circles in which she will use her Shield Toss attack before disappearing.
Summon Isa
Odin will Summon Isa at one of the six circles in which he will use his Charge attack before disappearing.
Summon Hagalaz
Odin will Summon Hagalaz at one of the six circles in which she will use her Lightning Strike attack before disappearing.
Summon Kaunan
Odin will Summon Kaunan at one of the six circles in which he will use his High Jump 1 attack before disappearing.
The Battle
Pre-50% Boss Health
On reaching the cloaked old man, he will reveal himself as Odin. At the start before he shows himself as Odin, run next to him and Charge up your heavy attack. Once Odin’s health bar appears use your heavy attack on him for a free hit.
For the duration of the entire battle, if Odin isn’t attacking he will continue floating around the battlefield. If you can predict when he’s going to come close to you, you can use your heavy attacks on him. If you can’t predict accurately then spend your time using light attacks.
If Odin uses Gungnir 1, dodge the initial throw and rush towards him. As Gungnir closes in on you, use your light attack to hit it and make it disappear. Immediately, use two heavy attacks on him before he dashes off.
If Odin uses Gungnir 2, dodge the initial throw and rush towards him. Use heavy attacks on him if Gungnir isn’t close enough to hit you. But make sure you align yourself with Odin and Gungnir so that when you use a light attack to destroy it, you will also hit Odin.
Post-50% Boss Health
Once Odin reaches 50% health he will dasht to the centre of the battlefield. This is where he will summon the Jotuns. Immediately chase him there and continue using heavy attacks until he dashes away.
From 30%-50% health Odin will only summon one Jotun at a time. As soon as he’s less than 30% he will begin to summon three Jotun’s at a time. You must be wary anytime Jotun’s are on the battlefield as they’ll make it difficult to land heavy attacks without being hit either by them or Gungnir.
If Odin uses Gungnir 1 dodge the initial throw and rush towards him. As Gungnir closes in on you, use your light attack to hit it and make it disappear. Immediately, use two heavy attacks on him before he dashes off to use Gungnir 1 again.
If Odin uses Gungnir 2 dodge the initial throw and rush towards him. Use heavy attacks on him if Gungnir isn’t close enough to hit you. But make sure you align yourself with Odin and Gungnir so that when you use a light attack to destroy it, you will also hit Odin.
If Odin uses Summon Jera immediately stop what you’re doing and run to the other side of the battlefield because she will be using Poison Cloud. This is vital to avoid as there are no blue flowers to cure you of Poison.
If Odin uses Summon Fe immediately be prepared to dodge as she will use Shield Toss.
If Odin uses Summon Isa immediately run to either side of him as he will use Charge.
If Odin uses Summon Hagalaz make sure your not standing still using heavy attacks because she will be using Lightning Strike, instead opt to use light attacks.
If Odin uses Summon Kaunan make sure to continue to move and dodge just as Kaunan lands from his High Jump 1.
The biggest consideration to make is when to use run away or attacks:
Run when Jera, Fe or Isa is on the battlefield.
Light attacks when Hagalaz and Kaunan are on the battlefield or when Gungnir is closing in on you.
Heavy attacks when no Jotun’s are present and Gungnir isn’t nearby.
To finish the final portion of the battle when less than 40% health use two Gungnir's and Loki’s Decoy. Use Freyja’s Speed to get close. Heimdall’s Shield and Thor’s Hammer, then heavy attacks as quickly as possible.
